Most readers of this blog are accustomed to choosing between fitness and chocolate. You can have fitness or you can have chocolate, but not both at once. French people do not believe this. As the cereal box promises, you can achieve your fitness goals and enjoy chocolatey goodness without compromising either. (See also, smoking after you work out, another French pastime.)
Chocolate isn't healthy just for women who want bodies like that; it's also good for children. After all, milk chocolate contains milk, which we all know children need. Kinder markets its chocolate with the slogan "Il y a de lait en plus!"--"It's got milk, too!" So French parents know that withholding chocolate would not only displease their children, but probably lead to malnutrition and stunted growth.
We wanted Eli to subsist solely on chocolate during his visit; however, he hates the stuff. We gave him a tiny piece of chocolate cake back in the States Sunday and he could not spit it out fast or thoroughly enough. Unfortunately, there are very few foods available in France that are wholesome but not chocolatey.
